Open Wounds

Love Warrior Glennon Doyle Melton wrote: "Make sure you're sharing from your scars, not your open wounds" and I agree, but how do you get the support and encouragement you need to heal when you are hiding your open wounds?

I think, for me, the way I read what Glennon wrote is that when we share publicly, we share from our scars. When we share privately, with those who've earned the right to hear our story, we can share from our open wounds.
You have allies, Foxy. Find them. Show them your wounds. Speak your truth. I believe in you.

I haven't read the quote inside the larger context, but I wonder the worth of sharing after the fact. For others, yes, sharing is invaluable. But for the person who went through the scar-making trauma, is that the most helpful time to be reaching out?
