Parlodel

I just picked up a prescription for Parlodel.

My repeat bloodtest showed that my prolactin levels were still on the high side, and the Dr would like to see them a bit lower. I asked the IVF nurse what the numbers were and told me that they were 27, which is still below the official "high" threshold of 30, but that the Dr was concerned about it affecting egg quality.

The side-effects of this drug look pretty nasty. (Anyone else taken this? or had experience with high prolactin affecting egg quality?)

But (good news) the Dr told me that I could keep taking my Lexapro :) (and we'll talk about the Klonopin when I see him next week for my mock embryo transfer.)

only 27 days until I start IVF meds...

Getting close! This is very exciting! YEAH! Hope the meds help keep your prolactin level where it needs to be. A take home baby is what we're after and we need things to line up for you :)

You are getting so close. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the drug either. I'm right behind you. pretty sure that it's about 30 days (or less) until I start BCP.

I love your fun little buddy :) What is that for?

As for the meds - I have NO idea, hon, I'm sorry. But, it sounds like they've got a plan, and that is always good :) Less than a month! Woohoo!

Here from LFCA. Years and years ago I had highish prolactin; cutting out lots of details, when I finally got a subclinical hypothyroid condition diagnosed and treated, the prolactin came down (also, I was finally able to get PG via the IVF we needed due to MF, so ...). I'm new here, so forgive me if you've covered this, but have you had a thorough thyroid workup done? The health of a pregnancy really depends on maternal thyroid (and elevated prolactin can be a symptom of hypothyroidism) so if there's anything out of whack there you want to know about it (also, hypothyroidism is usually easy, safe, and cheap to treat, including while ttc and PG). Feel free to email me if you want more info, and best wishes for the success of your IVF!

hmm, all I know is my dad took it for Parkinsons disease; not sure what the relationship is. I'd imagine your dosage is quite different too. I don't think they'd prescribe if it was a problem, but I'm always in support of doing your homework first!! good luck!
